Red House Staging | A Case Study

case study client success story Nov 30, 2018

Fractured team comes together to faceoff with toxic problems.

Ain’t no market like the real estate market, ‘cause the real estate market don’t stop. Red House Staging supports DC-Metro realtors with the much-needed Home Staging service. Time and time again, they deliver that magical spark of imagination in the minds (and hearts) of prospective buyers. Through carefully curated furniture and accessories, the design team creates the illusion — “I could so see myself living here”  —  for residential and commercial listings.

Despite Brand Recognition and a solid business model, the team at Red House were facing some pretty intense internal fractures that threatened their existence.

In many ways, the culture had turned rancid — even long term employees weren’t really team players anymore.

Communication crawled to a standstill, and a recent organizational restructuring left people feeling lost in unmet expectations, unclear roles, and mismatched responsibilities.

They needed to regroup out of the office to face problems head on. They needed a restorative retreat and a facilitator, someone who could walk them through those delicate conversations. They needed a brand brain, a marketing guru who could help them prioritize internal initiatives and double down on loyalty.

Enter Rebecca (that’s me!)

  • In the Color My Company Culture Workshop we did a deep dive into each other, team members sharing themselves — as well as thoughts and feelings about the rest of the organization. Red House Staging got to know each other in a whole new way, taking it back to a baseline of understanding and compassion. Our teambuilding set the mood and set the stage (the Red House Stage, of course!) for a more cohesive staff, just in time.

  • Together, we identified the top sticking points that really had the team in a tizzy. We prioritized the top 5 and made a plan of attack to turn mixed messages and a lack of protocol into a solid chain of command and set of best practices.

  • Based on all of this brand development, we uncovered the Core Values that unite the team under common ideas… and ideals.

  • We crafted a Quick Pitch for each team member, an individualized way to professionally talk about their role in the company in a way that speaks to their unique personality.

The best is yet to come. Red House Staging is taking this new team cohesion and using it to rebuild a better company culture. #funfact, I also wrote the copy for their design-in-a-box service, Stage2Go.
